Notes: Dated 1913 on the verso. Although this date has been considered, it is believed that 1913 was added many years later, at a time when the distinction between 1911, 1912, or 1913 was blurred. The impasto, brushstroke, composition, tone, hues, and black outlining, are prototypical elements and characteristics of Metzinger’s work from late 1911 and early 1912.
